As a longtime motorsport fan, I agree that races can be boring. They’ve always been boring! That’s why they’re relatively niche sports. Personally I love Monaco precisely because it’s so awkward for the cars and drivers. F1 needs weirdness. And rolling blockades to get free stops is especially weird. Boring and dumb, but weird.

IMO, Indy is fine. NASCAR is idiotic, and Monaco needs a “fix” simply bc the cars don’t fit the track anymore. Make the track bigger; make the cars smaller (for that race). Hey, make it a non-points race and have all the drivers race cars from the 60s! 😜

My high school buddy John Romano DOES race his '64 BRM in the Monaco vintage race. Now THAT'S interesting!

As a former Motorsport Manager PC junkie, putting together a "boring" race in which you win from pole is just as much of an accomplishment and just as stressful as recovering from a first-lap spin to finish in the points.

It gave me so much appreciation for all the machinery (real and metaphorical) and teamwork that goes into a "boring" race win.

Doesn't mean I want to see domination season after season, but sometimes one team is just that much better and I'm happy giving them their flowers even if I might not tune in as often (or wait for a result before deciding to watch the replay).

Yes! You get it! There's a whole incredible story taking place away from the track when one driver is dominant — we just don't see it, and when it comes time to hit the track, it just looks easy.

One of the best F1 races I ever saw, soaked and cold at Silverstone in 1961, was when Stirling Moss lapped the field.

I have no idea if anyone else passed anyone else; but it was a remarkable experience.

I'm not going to watch the Olympics. Not enough passing.
